The Aeronautics is a homage to the boundary pushing mind of man.
The Aeronautics is a new Norwegian supergroup and unlikely trio, consisting of legendary Norwegian emcee Son of Light, singer Numa Edema and eclectic producer and DJ Soulbase. As the name implies, the Aeronautics is all about the art of flying, both literally and metaphorically.
The trio just finished recording its debut album which is to be expected late 2016/early 2017.
In May I joined the Connect Tour 2015 with rappers Xiao Ou, Son of Light, Peewee and Jahjahway, to document the 9-city tour through China's underground hip hop scene, called Connect Tour 2015.
For 19 days we traveled non-stop and held shows in Shanghai, Suzhou, Shanghai, Xiamen, Guangzhou, Changsha, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'an, and finally Beijing. The rappers left with the purpose of connecting with strangers through music, despite language barriers and cultural differences. We visited cities that most Norwegians never heard of, despite the population being larger than the whole country of Norway.
The crew consisted of Xiao Ou, a Norwegian rapping in Chinese, Norwegian Son of Light rapping in English, Chinese Jahjahway rapping in Chinese, and Peewee on the turntables.
Each city had its own special blend, musically and culinary. From commercial boybands to underground trap music, from seafoods of Xiamen to the spicy hotpots of Chongqing, we follow the artists in their quest for some sort of connection.
From order to chaos, the Connect Tour 2015 + official music video is in post-production, while photos and short video outtakes available here.
Niko IS dropped the "Carmen"-video feat. Talib Kweli we worked on earlier this winter. "Carmen" is off the Brutus album, a track with inspiration from Niko's mother who's name is Carmen.
"I’m an only child, I don’t got no siblings. My mother is really all I have. That’s like my inspiration and my vibe. She’s done a lot of crazy things in the past that’s inspired me." - Niko SOHH.com.
Talib Kweli colaborates on this track while Thanks Joey produced it, along with a majority of Niko's recent tracks.
Over a two-day shoot all was recorded in Oslo, Norway - predominately Tøyen, Kampen and The Botanical Garden of Oslo. The second day of shoot consisted of a drenching 22-hour shoot late in the rainy and stormy night. Location of the restaurant used was Trancher Grünerløkka, a cozy and classic location where they serve dry aged entrecôte.
Big up to whole crew that came through to get this together!

Met up with Talib in Oslo to do a video for Niko IS feat. Talib Kweli, as they were in town to do a show at John Dee in Oslo. Been working with Kweli previously on videos off albums like "Reflection Eternal - Revolutions per Minute" (Hi-Tek) and "Gutter Rainbows". This time we're shooting "Carmen" on a winter's night in downtown Oslo.
Originially a Rio de Janiero-native, Niko IS is a freshly inked artist at Talib's Javotti Media. Niko already dropped "Chill Cosby" (2012), "Good Blood LP" (2013), and is currently working on "Brutus".
Weather was stormy, rain shooting sideways and blasting the lens, but with my crime partner Sully, we got the shots needed around downtown Oslo and some following studio-shots with DP Henrik Efskin (@henrikefskin).
